By its very definition, a trattoria is an informal Italian eating establishment. It is synonymous with a bistro or café, with fantastic food served in a rustic environment.
When you step inside you'll be greeted by a warm open kitchen with marble counters. If you'll notice, there are no heat lamps to hold your food warm. Every meal is prepared with precision for you when you order it. When it is ready, it is taken from the stove, to the plate and to your table. We encourage you to enjoy your meal as it arrives, so that it is fresh. Share with your dining companions! Their dish will arrive momentarily...
Chef and co-owner Riccardo Simeone (sim-ee-oh-knee) was born in the Italian town of Gaeta and honed his cooking skills at Las Vegas’ Zefferino Ristorante, Seattle’s Barolo Ristorante, and other establishments across the country before embarking on his own venture in his adopted hometown. His business partner, Silvia McDowell found the perfect little space in Green Lake and started the venture in the spring of 2011. They opened the doors on May 31st.
While Gaeta is midway between Naples and Rome, Chef Simeone’s palate and culinary vision embrace the many varied cuisines of Italy using the finest imported ingredients combined with the bounty of the Northwest.
Appetizers and salads include a Tomato Bruschetta, "Polipetti Affogato", and a Roasted Beet and Walnut salad. Lunchtime finds an offering of many salads, appetizers, and sandwiches including a Portobello Mushroom Sandwich with house made spicy Strawberry Jam and Goat Cheese.
Pasta is a staple of any Italian restaurant and Chef Simeone makes much of his own pastas for dishes such as Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Chestnuts and Sage, Cavatelli with Duck Ragu, and Pear Ravioli. Many Classic Italian pasta dishes are available as well: Penne Puttanesca, Spaghetti Carbonara, Penne with Smoked Salmon.
Living up to the restaurant’s name, a hearty Cioppino is offered with the selection of seafood changing as the season warrants. Beef Tenderloin, Veal Porcini, Chicken Marsala, and other offerings round out the entrees.
